Indian Trails Camp:
Is a private - non-profit, residential camp serving children and adults with disabilities. The major goal of the camp is to provide a camping experience for individuals not able to participate in a "traditional" summer camp program.
Activities therefore are the same which are found at most traditional youth camps, however adaptations are established to meet the special needs of the campers which the camp serves.
General Qualifications of Staff:
Indian Trails seeks staff members who are a minimum of 18 years of age, and who have completed one year in college by the beginning of summer, high preference is given to individuals majoring in fields related to the human services: special education, therapy, psychology, social work, medical study, etc. We look for mature, enthusiastic, responsible, unselfish and caring individuals. We are interested in a balance of returning staff and new staff; people experienced in working with the physically disabled and those seeking out the experience for the first time. Salary Range:
$200-$275 per week depending on position.

Employment Opportunities:
Cabin Counselor: Counselors are those individuals who are responsible for creating and establishing the "cabin unit". They are responsible for assisting the campers to create a summer which will last a life time! Counselors are responsible for the "hands on" physical care of campers (i.e. feeding, clothing, etc.) and for the establishing companionships with the campers which the camp serves. A cabin consists of 7 campers and 2 to 3 staff.
Activity Specialist: These are the staffs that are responsible for shaping the daily activities. Each Activity Director will be responsible for a designated camp activity area. In addition, to the directed area which they have assumed responsibility for, they will also be responsible to work as a team with the other members of the Activity Staff as they are responsible for assisting with special events and will be assigned to assist cabins. One year work experience as a Leader or Management is recommended, however, adequate experience will also be considered.
Arts and Crafts Director: Occupational Therapy, Art Education, Art Therapy study is recommended. Experience in creative arts and crafts instruction is preferred. Completion of degree is not required.
Waterfront and Pool Staff: LG or LGI certification required along with current CPR. Adaptive Aquatics a plus.
Adventure Staff: Experience with ropes both and high and low! Personal enjoyment of working outdoors and the ability to demonstrate mature judgment, team work and leadership.
Health and Safety Staff: Enjoy the outdoors and share the excitement of camp living with individuals with physical disabilities while practicing your nursing skills. Indian Trails Camp has a "state of the art" (camp) medical center. A team of 7 health staff will be hired.
